A crown is a small, tooth-shaped “cap” that fits over your tooth. It is used to cover and protect damaged teeth, hide discolored or misshapen teeth, as well as to restore the crown’s of dental implants. Crowns can be made from a variety of different materials, including: ceramic, porcelain, a combination of porcelain and metal that’s often called porcelain-fused-to-metal, or in the past metal. You have options when it comes to choosing the type of crown you receive, and this article is here to educate you on that. Crowns also exist as parts of dental bridges. A bridge is simply the term for when one or more crowns are splinted together to cover and replace multiple damaged teeth. Bridges can help restore your smile and proper chewing function.

Crowns - Tel Aviv Dentist - Dr. Meytal Salman

In the past, crowns used to require a few dental appointments. But with today’s upcoming technology, along with our advanced dental office equipment, we are now able to provide crowns in just one appointment. Rather than waiting as long as 3 weeks for your new crown, you can walk into Dr. Meytal’s office and walk out with your new CEREC crown that very same day.

The CEREC crown is made out of a very strong ceramic, it is highly durable, yet very esthetic and natural-looking. It is designed and created using computer-assisted technology. Using computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing (CAM) to capture digital images of your tooth and jaw, we can design a crown, and then create that crown for installation — all right there in the office. No need for temporary crown and most importantly no uncomfortable oral impressions.

The procedure itself is very simple. All you have to do is open wide for the camera. The dentist will take digital pictures of the tooth that needs a crown, after they prepare it for such. The model is then created by using CAD/CAM technology to take those digital images and create a digital model of your tooth. The machine takes the model and creates, or mills, a 3-D tooth out of ceramic. The milling process only takes about 15 minutes. Finally we will polish the new crown and fit it in place inside your mouth.

As easy as that.
